  • Veterans Day Celebration

On November 10, 2016 the GWL Elementary School honored our Veterans. We began our program by singing God Bless America to our honored guests. After opening comments from Dr. Ackerman and Mayor Jesse Dwyer, each Veteran shared their service history as well as who he/she was related too in our school. We ended our program by inviting our Veterans to enjoy breakfast sponsored by our 3rd graders. Thank you to Maria Boller, our teachers and our 3rd grade families for organizing this important event for our community.

  • Required NYS Lead Testing: Results

Faucets and drinking fountains at all schools in the state are mandated to be tested for the presence of lead by no later than September 30th as outlined in a September 6, 2016 law authorized by Governor Andrew Cuomo. New state health regulations mandate that drinking water in schools throughout the state be tested to ensure that lead levels do not exceed the “action level” of 15 parts per billion.

  • GWL UFSD Pink Out

On October 14, 2016, in conjunction with The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, GWL UFSD raised money to support families impacted by cancer in the Mid-Hudson Valley as well as created awareness in our community for the many people affected by this illness. Our school community wore pink on Friday and raised $1,050 by asking each member to donate at least $2 to the Miles of Hope Foundation.

  • Capital Project Vote- November 29, 2016

The Board of Education has approved a new capital project for your consideration. The project vote is scheduled for November 29, 2016 from 11AM-9PM in the GWL Elementary School gym. The two propositions that will be put forth for consideration are based on community and faculty feedback gleaned through focus groups and surveys. We are able to leverage our capital reserve and budget money earmarked for bond payments to support this project at no additional cost to our taxpayers.
